Drake birthday bash features 2000s-theme and $5K Chanel bags as giveaways
Attention anyone over 30, the 2000s are officially a vintage era, at least according to rapper Drake, who themed his 32nd birthday party this week after that ancient age, multiple news organizations are reporting.
The “God’s Plan” rapper went all out to help guests remember the good old days at his 2000s-themed party Tuesday night at Goya Studios in Los Angeles. The scene included a wall of Blockbuster videotape boxes, cars from MTV’s Pimp My Ride and an entire 7-Eleven store.
The bash also included a room dedicated as a shrine to Drake’s mom, Sandi Graham, outfitted with flowers and candles, news organizations reported.
Even with all that, news organizations seemed to be most enamored of the fact that Drake gave away $5,000 Chanel purses as door prizes. Guests also took home shirts with Drake’s face on them.
Drake, outfitted in a navy Sean John velour sweatsuit, one pants leg rolled up, with a giant cross necklace around his neck and a white headband, posted a photo in front of a wall of Blockbuster videotape cases with the Instagram caption “late fees.”

In another photo, Drake is flanked by Chris Brown, who shows off a mouth fool of gold teeth, while Drake chats on his gray flip phone.
Later, Drake busted out another vintage 2000s look (are you feeling nostalgic yet?) with a basketball jersey over T-shirt combination, The Cut reported.
Others bought into the theme too. Kendall Jenner showed up in a pink sequin trucker hat and low-rise jeans, People reported.
Along with Chris Brown and Jenner, the guest list also included Diddy – the artist formerly known as Sean John – Swizz Beats, French Montana, and Jordyn Woods.
Lucky guest @wordonrd posted a video of the scene on Instagram that featured close-ups of the shrine to Drake’s mom complete with childhood photos, and Slurpees provided at the 7-Eleven.
