Miami Officer Taunts Murdered Girl’s Family with ‘#GoGetTheKillerYourSelves’ Facebook Post
On Sept. 8, a Miami police officer was relieved of duty after posting inflammatory statements about the death of 8-year-old Jada Page.
Family members have been using social media to find Jada’s killer since the August drive-by shooting.
WPLG Local 10 News reports that 10-year veteran Miami Officer Andrew Mesa got hold of a video posted by Jada’s cousin Eugene Spence.
Spence made a video asking the killers to come forth.
Mesa reshared the video and then instructed Spence to find the killers himself because he may use deadly force.
“What will happen if deadly force is the only option,” Mesa wrote. “Will they say their hands were up? #GoGetTheKillersYourSelves.”
The president of the Miami Fraternal Order of Police, Javier Ortiz, defends Mesa’s actions as an act of frustration.
“Law enforcement officers are frustrated with communities that stay tight lipped and won’t turn in individuals that murder innocent children like little Jada,” Ortiz tells reporters.
However, this is not Mesa’s first incident of this nature. In his decade-long career, he has been involved in a fatal shooting and a racial argument with another officer.
