Rain or shine, the show goes on at Beyoncé and Jay-Z concert
Beyoncé and Jay Z made a stop in New Jersey at MetLife Stadium on Thursday night but the show hit a snag because of impending thunderstorms, Page Six reports.
According to the outlet, the show was supposed to begin at 7:30 p.m. with openers Chloe x Halle and DJ Khaled. But both acts were stalled because lightning and thunder stole the spotlight at about 10 p.m.
New Jersey State Police cleared out the open-air stadium of around 50,000 fans — some of whom had paid up to $400 for tickets. They were forced to evacuate their seats and seek cover inside for hours.
“Bey and Jay-Z were already over an hour past their original start time, but at 9:45 we were evacuated by the fire marshal and at 10:30 I left to go home before they even got onstage,” a concertgoer shared with Page Six. “I had to get back into the city to walk the dog!”
Another ticket holder described the scene as “uncomfortable” and “increasingly humid.”
And when MetLife bosses extended the alcohol cutoff — the crowd grew rowdy, according to the report.
Ticket holder Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted: “We were this close to leaving during the storm evacuation and watching Fade To Black on DVD at home—which is what we did on OUR FIRST DATE Y’ALL. Thank Beyonce we stayed.”

Another source revealed: “It was clear that something was up when DJ Khaled’s opening set kept going on and on, as the MetLife audience grew impatient for Bey and Jay to hit the stage.”
The Carters eventually hit the stage at 11:08 p.m. and wrapped at 1:29 a.m. Friday, with Queen Bey thanking the crowd for “not letting the rain stop the night.”
“Thank y’all for riding. It’s like 1-something in the morning,” she said. “God bless you. We appreciate you. We love you.”
