Steve Harvey to end daytime talk show, launch new one

After five seasons, Steve Harvey’s talk show is drawing to a close, but he won’t be leaving daytime television.

The Steve Harvey Show” is on its way out, but a new talk show will start up in September to take its place. The new show would be based in Los Angeles, which will be much easier for Harvey, as that is where NBC’s “Little Big Shots” and ABC’s “Funderdome” are produced, with “Celebrity Family Feud” being filmed in Atlanta but in batches, allowing Harvey easier travel.

Harvey will also reportedly gain ownership and creative control with the new show, which he has long sought, and with the show set in LA, it is likely that it will be more celebrity-driven than before, though of course, it will retain the comedy that its host is known for.

“The Steve Harvey Show” will wrap production in May. The show has consistently done well in talk television, ranking fourth after “Dr. Phil,” “Ellen” and “Live With Kelly” among viewers. So Harvey’s continued talk show presence will be a relief to longtime fans of his, even if it is in a different location and a different show.
