SUNY Binghamton offering ‘Stop White People’ course

The State University of New York at Binghamton has stirred up controversy after offering instruction to it’s residential advisers (RAs) on how to deal with “uneducated people” in racial situations. The course is called “StopWhitePeople2k16.”

The course is aimed at trying to “help others take the next step in understanding diversity, privilege, and the society we function within.”

The story went viral after the course and its description were shared online on Tuesday, and it was shared on Wednesday on sites such as the Drudge Report.

While the school itself has not yet commented on the story, the official RA guide for the school states that they are to foster “an environment where interaction between people of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds as well as the sharing of divergent opinions and beliefs are respected and welcomed.”
