Do You Need a Break?
I don’t know how your 2017 has been so far, but what I’ve been hearing from many women in our Happy Black Woman tribe is that they NEED a break.
Between your job, your business, your kids, your marriage/relationship, your finances, your health, etc. it can all seem like a lot for one woman to handle.
As women – and especially as black women – we have been taught to do it ALL. To hold the heavy responsibility of being strong and successful on our shoulders, refusing to ask for help even when we feel like screaming from the stress.
We have been taught to prioritize everyone else’s needs above our own.
And if we’re being honest? In many ways, it feels GOOD to provide for others, to be the nurturer, to be the one everyone calls for help.
But what happens when YOU are the one who needs help?
What happens when you feel like you have no one to call on because everyone you know has their own problems to deal with?
Over time, you can end up becoming a TIRED and UNHAPPY black woman, disconnected from who you really are and what you really want.
You may discover that the weight of other people’s problems, opinions and expectations have bogged you down so much that it’s hard to find YOU again.
And it’s in those quiet moments that you know in your heart…something has to change.
Next month, we’ll be gathering for the Happy Black Woman Summer Camp – an all-inclusive, overnight adult camp designed specifically for black women who want to experience more joy, purpose and meaning in their lives.
If you’ve been feeling like you need a break to recharge and get back to YOU, I invite you to join us August 3-6, 2017 in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina! Trade in your computer, iPhone and email for four days of self-care, play, creativity and sisterhood to help you find your way back home.
