How Comparison Kills Your Success

This is how it happens:

You’re scrolling through Facebook or Instagram and all of a sudden, she pops into your feed.

A beautiful woman entrepreneur who seems to have it all – style, wisdom and the kind of business you’ve been dreaming of building for years.

You click “like’ and begin following her immediately.

Her website is gorgeous, her hair is poppin’ and her pics look like she has a photographer following her around everywhere.

Every time she posts on social media, she gets a ton of likes and comments from her followers.

Her testimonial page takes an hour to read because there are just that many success stories from her clients.

You decide right then and there that she is the prototype and you proceed to copy everything she does. Hey, if it works for her, then it will work for you, too right?

You notice that her brand colors are bright pink and purple. So you go and change your website colors to match hers. (Even though you’ve never liked or worn the color pink a day in your life.)

You see that she calls herself a “business strategist” so you go and update your bio to say that, too. (Even though you’re really a career coach and you love helping people find their dream jobs.)

You notice that she says curse words in her videos, so you start letting the f-bombs drop, too. Because #rebel. (Even though you rarely curse in real life.)

She does a livestream, so you do a livestream.

She launches a Youtube channel, so you figure out how to create one, too.

She has a podcast, so you start one as well.

The only problem is, where all her marketing seems to go viral, yours just kind of…flops. All you hear is *crickets*.

No one really shows up to listen to you or watch you or buy from you.

Why?

Because you’re trying to be someone – and something – you’re not.

Comparison turned you into a copycat and it doesn’t look or feel right to anyone, especially you.

People can sense authenticity, but they can also smell BS from a mile away.

They can tell you’re just presenting a cheap version of someone else’s brand.

And they want you – the REAL you to show up before they invest their time and attention.

That’s why the theme for my upcoming Launch Your Business LIVE 3-Day Boot Camp is “Monetize Your (Black Girl) Magic.”

My intention is that this event will lift you up and restore your confidence so that you can stop comparing yourself to other women and instead, start trusting yourself to do the work you were called to do.

Being in a room of brilliant Black women will be the physical experience you need to remind you of what’s unique, special and yes, MAGICAL about you.

And then…you will learn how to monetize the hell out of it!

It’s time to stop acting like you’re still not good enough to be successful.

It’s time to stop acting like you just need one more degree, one more certification or one more course to be “ready” to start your business.

NO.

All you need to do is DECIDE that you will get the help you need to step into your power as a Black woman in business. NOW, now later.

I’m here to teach you everything I know and I will never hold anything back.

But what I’m NOT going to do is turn you into a cookie-cutter version of me.

Only I can be me.

Only you can be you.

And being YOU is the most beautiful gift you can give to the world.
